Description:

Enso is an AudioUnit V3 plugin, designed to be used with AUv3 hosts such as Cubasis, Garageband, or AUM. It does not function as a standalone app; rather, it serves as a container for AUv3.
Enso presents a unique architectural design and distinctive sonic characteristics tailored for producers and live performers. It draws inspiration from both contemporary looper pedals and vintage tape-based systems. The plugin combines a refined and user-friendly interface with a comprehensive yet approachable set of features and exceptional sound quality.
Users familiar with hardware looper pedals or plugins like Ableton Live's included Looper will find Enso's operation immediately recognizable. By initiating playback in the host DAW, pressing Enso's record button allows users to capture their musical performance into a loop of customizable length, up to ten minutes (five minutes on iOS). They can then seamlessly layer additional passes without interrupting playback to craft intricate grooves, intricate harmonies, or evolving soundscapes.
Going beyond the fundamental functionalities, Enso ventures into uncharted territory in software looping. Its two Overdub modes enable users to emulate traditional looper pedal behavior or experiment with Frippertronics-inspired 'dual tape deck' techniques, influencing the Feedback parameter for a vast array of layering possibilities. Furthermore, users can define up to four Sectors effortlessly, each with unique start and end points, allowing instant rearrangement of the loop.
Enso offers unprecedented flexibility as time and motion become fluid concepts. The independent control of speed and direction for playback and recording is made possible by the 'through-zero' bipolar Speed controls that smoothly transition between forward and reverse play in real time. Whether recording forwards at half speed while simultaneously playing the loop in reverse at 1.25x speed, Enso accommodates innovative techniques seamlessly.
Additionally, Enso features onboard tape-style saturation, filtering, and chorus effects for adding warmth, frequency manipulation, and stereo enhancement. A robust MIDI assignment system facilitates effortless configuration of MIDI pedals or button controllers to operate all of Enso's functions. The looping waveform display with animated play and record heads offers a simple yet informative visual representation of complex temporal manipulations, providing immediate insight into ongoing processes.
Enabling limitless creative possibilities for looping both on stage and in the studio, Enso stands out as one of Audio Damage's most elegantly executed plugins to date. It serves as an empowering addition to any musician's collection of effects.
